Joanne Harris Womack

Joanne Harris Womack, 85, of Chester, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016. Daughter of the late, Elisha Stanford and Elizabeth Sinclair Harris, she was born in Lenoir, NC in 1930. Joanne was the youngest, with three older siblings. She adored her parents and had an undeniable love for her family and three children. She had such a big spirit and personality, an absolutely beautiful person. With a Master’s degree in education from VCU, she had a career teaching in the Chesterfield County public schools. She also held a Bachelor’s degree in music from Greensboro College and was a church choir director. She is survived by her children, William G. Womack, Jr., Margaret Elizabeth Womack Stafford (Garland), and James S. Womack (Deborah); six grandchildren, Rachel Cushman, Sarah Parrish, Katherine Stafford, Lana Womack, James Womack, Jr., and Courtney Womack; and great-granddaughter, Mila Cushman. Private services will be held. In lieu of flowers, spend time with your family and loved ones, time is too precious.
