Miguel Angel Gonzalez Soto, 72, resident of Hopewell, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2014. He was the son of the late Francisco and Dominga Soto Gonzalez. A Vietnam War Veteran, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and retired in 1994 after many years of service. Miguel was an excellent cook, and loved spending time with family and friends. He had a real passion for fishing, and loved to be around those that shared the same feeling. Miguel, is survived by Kap Sun Shippee (his “Yobo”); his step children, Joanne English (Spouse: Ben, their children, Jacob and Hannah), Diane Jennings (Spouse: Marcel, their children, Lainey and Ian), and Kevin Shippee; daughters, Jacqueline Gonzalez (Son: Nicholas Moorer), Sandra Gonzalez-Gisone (Spouse: Fernando Miguel, their child, Miguel Angel Gisone), and son, Michael Gonzalez (Children: Victoria Lee, Michael Anthony, and Gloria). Miguel is one of eight siblings, and is survived by Juanita, Jose, Saul, Sara, Antonio, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, also at the funeral home. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Amelia Veterans Cemetery, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia, VA. 23002.
