Allan Blair Mitchell, 78, of Dinwiddie, Virginia, passed away on Saturday September 8, 2012. He was the son of the late Samuel and Bessie Mitchell. Allan was a Charter Member and former President of the Rowanty Hunt Club, and past president of the Rowanta Ruritan Club. Mr. Mitchell was an avid hunter and fisherman. He founded A.B. Mitchell Well Boring in 1963 and co-founded Dinwiddie Deep Well Drilling in 1983 before retiring in 2006. Allan is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Iris R. Mitchell; daughter, Janet M. Campo; two sons, Jeffrey A. Mitchell and Michael L. Mitchell and wife, Delila; grandchildren, Jody Bendall and wife, Crystal, Melissa Levy and husband, Frank, Brian,Kerry, and Brandon Mitchell, and Dennis Burnette, Jr. and wife, Hannah; two great-grandchildren Kayla Rayner and Nevaeh Burnette; two sisters, Shirley Stanfield and husband, Jimmy, and Jean Stanfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday September 12, 2012 at the funeral home. Interment to follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA. The family requests no flowers or food, but contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
