Anne Werbenec Harlan, age 94, died on Friday, August 14, 2015 in Hopewell, Virginia. Born in Port Richmond, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Thomas and Katherine Misiang Werbenec. She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, John William Harlan, Jr.,and her five sisters, Marion Buyalos, Helen Williams, Julia Moore, Jenny Cunningham and Angie Moore. She attended the Richmond Business School and was a charter member of the Appomattox Garden Club, a member of the Women's Federation Club of Hopewell, a member of St. James Catholic Church, a charter member of the James River Ball charity event, a member of the Historic Hopewell Foundation and Weston Manor. She loved gardening. Her greatest loves were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. Surviving her are her two sons, John William Harlan III and his wife, Martha, of Varina, Virginia, Daniel Winston Harlan and his wife, Darlene, of Disputanta, Virginia; four grandchildren, Max Andrew, John Paul, Daniel Winston, Jr., and Graham Patrick Harlan, and one great grandchild, Mia Joy Harlan. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 17th from 6-8 pm at the Hopewell Chapel of the J.T.Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 18th at 11am at Merchants Hope Church, 11500 Merchants Hope Road in Prince George County with internment immediately following at the Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens.
