Brenda Brown Goff

December 12, 1943 — August 23, 2014

Brenda Brown Goff was born in Richmond, VA on December 12, 1943. She graduated from Colonial Heights High School where she served as President of the Student Body. Brenda attended Longwood College where she majored in Art and was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority. She married Wilmer Goff (Wil) on August 22, 1964. After residing in Richmond, Lancaster, PA and Petersburg, Brenda and her family moved to Roanoke, VA in 1973. Brenda was very active at Hunting Hills Country Club and served as a Chairperson when the Avon Professional Tennis League held a tournament at Hunting Hills. Brenda was President of the Hunting Hills Garden Club. Brenda’s family returned to Richmond-Petersburg in 1990 where she held a supervisory position in the Customer Service Branch of the US Internal Revenue Service. Brenda was always quick to point out that the customer service personnel were the “good guys in the IRS”. Upon her retirement, Brenda and Wil moved to the coast of NC and purchased a home on the Calabash River in Sunset Beach. Bree (as she became known) was an award winning artist and an active member in the “Art Matters” pastel group. Her paintings are on display at the Sunset River Marketplace Art Gallery in Calabash, NC. She is survived by her mother – Gloria S. Brown; sister – Anita Nelson; Husband – Wilmer Goff; Son – David Goff; Daughter Kelsey Goff Mallory; Son-in-Law – Kevin Mallory; Grandson - Gabriel Goff; and Granddaughter – Isabel Goff. Bree made friends wherever she lived and her untimely passing after recently celebrating her 50th Wedding Anniversary leaves an unfillable void in many lives. Brenda will live in our hearts forever! The family will receive friends Thursday, August 28th, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service, inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Bree’s memory can be made to the charity of your choice. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
