Brooke Abigail Hamlett

Brooke Abigail Hamlett, 7, of Hopewell, VA passed on Friday, May 23, 2014. Brooke was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Raymond and Betty Hamlett; and great-grandparents, Raymond E. Lane, MaMa Kat and Loretta Flaim. Brooke was a first grade student at Patrick Copeland Elementary School in Hopewell. She loved singing, riding her bike and dancing around the house. Brooke is survived by her mommy and daddy, Shannon Hamlett and Christopher Sprague; her father, Curt Hamlett; seven brothers and sisters, Shane, Brenton, Ciara and Kaydence Hamlett, and Destiney, Taylor and Tyler Sprague; maternal grandparents, Penny and J.D. Chaffin; maternal grandfather, Nick Flaim; great-grandparents, Helen Lane and Nicholas Flaim; step-grandparents, Douglas and Sharon Sprague; great-uncle, Ray Lane; and numerous other loving family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Appomattox Cemetery. Brooke gave the gift of life by being an organ donor. In honor of Brooke, the family request that children dress as their favorite Disney princess or other character at the funeral.
