Colonel Charles Edward Hoffert, 82, a resident of Chester, VA, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Sr. and Irene G. Hoffert Beck ; his loving wife of over 50 years, Patricia E. Hoffert. He is survived by his children, Margaret Anne Cable (Jerry), Charles Edward Hoffert (Michelle), Irene Patricia Crofford (Cliff), Mary Lorraine Hom (Mark) and Roy Willis Lanham Hoffert (Sharon); ten grandchildren; two sisters, Karen O’Connor (Ted) and Darlene Hickey (Jay); his beloved dog “Mr. Pippin.” Charles was a retired Army Colonel who served our country for over 30 years. He served two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. During his service, he received a Silver Star, Legion of Merit, two Bronze Stars and The Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm. He was Ranger qualified, and earned a Combat Infantry Badge. Charles took pleasure in Civil War history and Geneology. A visitation will held at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday , February 18, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. 3050 W. Hundred Rd, Chester, VA 23831. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015 1:00 P.M. at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church 4400 Beulah Rd. Richmond, VA 23237. Interment will follow in Dale Memorial Park.
