Ellen Elizabeth Hipps

Ellen Stanley Hipps, 87, of Hopewell, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. Our Almighty Lord wrapped his arms around Ellen and carried her to her heavenly home, where her dearly loved sons were waiting to greet her.

She was the daughter of the late Claude and Mable Stanley. She was preceded in death by her beloved sons, Danny and Chris Hipps, and her 6 siblings: Junior, Raymond, Henry, Sammy, Bobby and Anne. Ellen was a cheerleader for the Hopewell Blue Devils. She retired from Firestone after many years of administrative service.

Ellen enjoyed many hobbies with her husband, Larry, who was the love of her life. They were most happy fishing together at Lake Chesdin and Burwells Bay. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and was a life member of the Hopewell Moose Lodge, where the inseparable pair enjoyed time on the dance floor and great times with their many friends.

She is survived by her deeply devoted lifetime partner, her husband Larry Hipps. She is also survived by three grandsons, Brent Hipps of Escondido, CA, Bryce Hipps (Ashley) of Chester, VA, and Zachary Hipps of Hopewell, VA; as well as two precious great-granddaughters, Francie Bea and Millie Jane Hipps. The family wishes to give special thanks and recognition to Ginny Radcliffe, her devoted caretaker and friend.

A memorial service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 11th, 2021 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
