Mary Ann Booth Ake

Mary Ann Booth Drake, 76, passed away suddenly at her home in Gloucester, Virginia on Saturday, September 5. Mary Ann was a 1962 graduate of Hopewell High School where she was in the top ten of her graduating class. She received a B.A. in Accounting while employed at Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina. She enjoyed a long career as an accountant working at several Department of Defense facilities including Fort Lee. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry E. “Butch” Drake, Jr. and parents, Reginald A. and Mary Thelma Fulcher Booth. She is survived by her sister, Joan Booth Elliott, and brother, Reginald A. Booth, Jr., and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services for family and friends will be held at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens on Saturday, September 12 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
