Thomas Henry Hudson

Thomas Henry Hudson, 87, of Chester, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014. Born in Bedford County, Virginia, he was the son of the late John Henry and Lillie Hudson. He was also preceded in death by a son, Sanford V. Hudson; granddaughter, Kathryn Hudson; seven brothers, Elveridge, James, Garland, Kenneth, Charles, Billy, and Lacy Hudson; and sister, Betty Martin. Mr. Hudson was a member of the “Greatest Generation”, serving his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was husband and companion to his wife for 65 years, father and mentor to his six children, nine cherished grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He lived a full and well rounded life. He was a savvy investor and avid golfer. Thomas spent 37 years of service at the Continental Can and later Smurfit Stone Paper Mill in Hopewell, VA. He was always a strong union man and most of all a paper maker. He will be greatly missed by family and friends, and will live forever in our memories. He is survived by his wife, Jean Mitchell Hudson; three sisters, June Wilson, Lois Byers, and Marion Weeks; six children, Thomas Hudson, Jr. (Wanda), Betsy Hudson (Sandford), Robert K. Hudson (Deborah), Patricia Lampman (Mike), Tracey Clarke (Ray), and Marjorie Lampman (Mark); eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm on Monday, April 14, 2014 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
