Ada Wigent Dowdy, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, entered into the presence of her Lord on October 20, 2019. She spent her formative years in Arlington, Virginia, and was the daughter of the late John M. Wigent and Coral J. Wigent. Ada’s life was one of devotion to her faith in God, to her family, and to her ministry both in teaching and music. Her career included teaching music, piano, and various elementary grades over the span of 31 years. Additionally, she was a school administrator for 20 years. Ada was a member of Christian Life Church, where she participated in various ministries. She enjoyed music, baking, gardening, sewing, and her true passion was for education. Ada was a wonderful mother and grandmother to her three children and eight grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Kathryn E. Phillips (Bryan) of McAdenville, NC, Sarah L. Kazlau (Michael) of Prince George, and Jonathan D. Dowdy (Amanda) of Chester; grandchildren Claire Anne Phillips, John James Phillips, Asa James Phillips, Coral Elizabeth Phillips, Sawyer Adason Kazlau, Grayson James Kazlau, and Remington Jayne Kazlau; sisters Coral Burke (the late Paul Burke), Pamela A. Lassell (Don), Claudia Horne (Stafford), and brother Donald J. Wigent (Sarah); and a host of beloved nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Christian Life Church at 12501 Life Trail, Chester, Virginia, on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at 2:00p.m. Condolences may be registered at
