Ada Williams Hayes

August 3, 1927 — April 5, 2024

Ada Virginia (A.V.) Hayes, 96, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Petersburg Home for Ladies. She was born August 3, 1927, in Prince George County, the daughter of James and Pearl Hall Williams. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Clarence B. Hayes; and her seven siblings, Willie, Everett, Hugh, Hargrave, Aubrey, Herbert Lee Williams, and Evelyn Banks. She leaves behind her children, Judy Krauth, Trudy Davis (Buddy), Barbara Hare (Bobby), and Clarence W. Hayes "Bill"; her beloved grandchildren, Michelle Kiser, Allison Orn (Jake), Brian Davis (Daniele), Mark Davis (Ericka), Robert Hare (Laura), James Hare (Erin), Brandon Hayes, and Carol Ann Mason (Jimmy). In addition she leaves behind twelve great-grandchildren, Colby, Emily, Brenden, Madison, Norah, Ace, Barrett, Preston, Liam, Freddy, Vincent, and Logan.
After being a stay-at-home Mom during her children's younger years, A.V. re-entered the workforce as a clerk for the Prince George County Health Department. She was actively involved and a dedicated member of Salem United Methodist Church. Being a "country girl," A.V was happiest being outside working in her garden, canning and freezing the fruits of her labor, or being out on the boat reeling in fish. She also relished in watching her children participate in her favorite sport and theirs: Baseball. She was always searching for a game to watch.
Special thanks and appreciation to the dedicated and loving staff of the Petersburg Home for Ladies, who have provided exceptional care for our Mom for the last two years.
A visitation will be held at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, from 6pm until 8pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home, on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at 1pm. Interment will follow at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens.
