Adelaide Ackerman Minter

Adelaide Ackerman Minter, 88, of Hopewell passed away peacefully in Chippenham Hospital on Tuesday January 24, 2017 after a long period of illnesses. Born June 28, 1928 in Andrews, South Carolina made her home in Hopewell, VA with family in the 1930’s. Daughter of the late Hobson J. & Gussie Thompson Ackerman. Mrs. Minter was preceded in death by her husband, Garnett Henley Minter; a son, Russell Allen Minter; a sister, Gladys Warren and 3 brothers’, Stanley, Warren “Dickie”, and Linwood Ackerman. Adelaide is survived by a son, Charles “Doug”las & his wife Wanda Minter, a daughter, Carol Ann Minter, a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Sue Minter; a brother, Hubert “Hobo” Ackerman; and 2 sisters, Vivian Dale, & Charlotte Estes; grandchildren, Randy Minter, Michelle Minter, Audra Minter, Nichole Minter, Bridgette Minter, and Stephanie Cook; great grandchildren, Jeremy Minter, Makayla Minter, David Minter, Cameron Minter, Damien Rose, Isaiah Cook, Alijah Cook, Isabel Fletcher; great great grandchildren, Mia Minter, Malia Minter; several other nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 6pm on Friday January 27, 2017 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
