Adele M. Chariton, 88, formerly of Petersburg and Prince George, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014, at Brighter Living Assisted Living, Hopewell, VA. She was born on September 8, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois to the late William and Teresa Dunne. She graduated from Nazareth Catholic Academy in 1943. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was an avid quilter and created many beautiful handmade wall hangings and quilts for beds. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond C. Chariton, brother, William Dunne, Jr., and two brothers-in-law, Richard Hill and James Skarda. She is survived by her sons, Raymond M. Chariton, of Indianapolis, IN, Mark C. Chariton and wife, Cherie, of Prince George, VA, daughter, Lynn M. Clark and husband, David, of Disputanta, VA.; grandchildren, Carrie Summers, Tim Chariton, and Robin Chariton, all of Indianapolis, IN, Todd Chariton of Carmel IN, Matthew Clark, of Chester, VA, Daniel Clark, of Blacksburg, VA, and step-grandchildren, Joe Torruella, of Prince George, VA and Carleigh Edwards, of Hopewell, VA.; 6 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Hill, of Chicago, Ill and Dorothy Skarda, of Elizabethtown, KY; one brother, Phillip Dunne and wife, Naomi, of Lakeland, FL., one sister-in-law, Dolores Dunne, of Chicago, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 in the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. The family would like to thank all of our friends and loved ones for their support over the last few years, especially those who visited Adele during these last few months. The family would especially like to express their sincere gratitude to the Staff of Brighter Living Assisted Living Home for their wonderful and loving care of Adele over these last four years.
