Agnes Davis Wallace, 96, of Hopewell, VA, passed to her eternal reward on February 9, 2023. She was born Agnes Marie Bogan, to the late Rev. Otis W. Bogan and Martha (Knopp) Bogan in Warm Springs, VA, but she considered Hopewell her home, having lived there over 75 years. She was a charter member of Hopewell First (now Restored Hope) Church of the Nazarene, attending there for nearly 65 years. She also served there faithfully, most notably as church treasurer, a position she held for over 25 years. Nothing brought her more joy than serving others. She could often be found in the kitchen, preparing entirely too much food for the people coming to eat it, or at her sewing machine, making an alteration or something special for a child or grandchild. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wallace was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Doy Davis, Sr.; a brother, Wilton Bogan; a sister, Elton Pommert; two sons, Ronald Davis, Sr. and Timothy Davis; son-in-law, Steven King; and her cousin and best friend, Elva Jarrett. She is survived by her loyal companion and husband of 6 years, Charles Wallace; her children, daughters, Catherine Nakada (Gene), of Hagerstown, MD and Ann King, of Hopewell, and son, Doy "Buddy" Davis, Jr. (Trudy), of Prince George; a daughter-in-law, Martha Davis, of Hopewell; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter; and a vast extended family of relatives and lives she touched. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 820 W. Broadway Avenue, Hopewell, VA. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Restored Hope Church of the Nazarene Building Fund, P.O. Box 1311, Hopewell, VA 23860.
