Alexander "Buster" Brooks, of Hopewell, Virginia, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023, at home.
He was born April 8, 1933 in Hopewell, Virginia, the son of the late, Alexander Brooks and Nora Langford Brooks Pearce (Joseph Holmes Pearce).
Buster graduated from Hopewell High School in 1953 and was then drafted into the U.S. Army. He served in the 64th Ordnance Battalion during the Korean War in 1953 and remained in the Army until 1955. He then served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1955 to 1985 where he retired at the rank of 1st Sergeant.
In 1961, Buster married Henrietta Bresko at Bethlehem Congregational Church in Disputanta, Virginia, where they continue to be active members in the church.
Buster retired from Allied Signal (now AdvanSix) in 1994 after working there for 36 years as an electrician. He was an avid sports fan and loved to cheer on the Yankees, the Redskins, Alabama Football, and all the UVA teams.
Buster is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Henrietta Brooks. He is also survived by his son, Tracy Brooks, and his wife Kim; and grandson, Blake Alexander Brooks; his brother, Phillip "Jimmy" Pearce (Elizabeth "Susie") and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place Sunday, August 6, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home - Hopewell Chapel, 820 W. Broadway Avenue, Hopewell, VA 23860. The funeral will be held at the chapel on Monday, August 7, 2023 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Bermuda Memorial Park in Chester, Virginia. Condolences may be registered at ww.jtmorriss.com.
