Alfred "Al" P. Harris

Alfred P. Harris, 91, of Hopewell, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2021. Born in Gumberry, NC, he was the son of the late Julian F. Harris and Sarah Lena Massey Harris.
Alfred was a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran, retiring after 20 years of service. Afterwards, he went on to work for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring after 18 years of service. He was a faithful member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and served in many capacities with his church family. He enjoyed photography, genealogy, and playing guitar. Most of all, his strongest passion was his family, and he loved them dearly.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Joyce Harris; daughters, Vivian Puse (Brian), Brenda Green (Randy), and Lori Patton (Bart); 5 grandchildren, Brian Puse III, Michael Green, Richard Green, Rachel Shaw, and Joshua Patton; 6 great-grandchildren, Ashton Puse, Ayla Puse, Ayden Puse, Astrid Green, Sienna Green, and Raea Patton.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Woodlawn Baptist Church, 3512 Virginia St. Hopewell, VA 23860. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park.
