Alfred “Pete” Webb Haase, 82, of Petersburg, died on Friday, January 10, 2014 surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Petersburg the son of the late Alfred and Grace Webb Haase. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving his country from 1950 to 1954. During that time he served on the Destroyer Escort (DE-239) USS Sturtevant, as a Radar Man 2nd Class and earned the National Defense Service Medal. After his service to his country he worked as a meat manager at Safeway and then as a Metropolitan Life Insurance Agent. Mr. Haase was community service oriented and gave back to his community by serving in many associations to include, USS Sturtevant Reunion Association (President 1990), St. Joseph Catholic Church and Parish Council, Volunteer for St. Joseph School and St. Vincent de Paul High School, Knights of Columbus, KOVAR, American Legion, Optimist Club, Member and past President of Life Underwriters Association, Jaycees, POGO (Petersburg Old Geezers Organization), Precinct Captain and twenty years Elections Judge, Southpark Mall Coffee Talkers (a group of great friends), and Stew Master for various Charities and Organizations. He loved woodworking, gardening, fishing, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jacqueline W. Haase; his children, J. Michael Haase and wife, Janice, Carol L. Haase and late husband Detlef Bolthoff, and Christopher W. Haase and wife, Christina; grandchildren, Matthew D. Haase and wife, Linnea, Stephen C. Haase and Katie E. Haase; and a great-granddaughter, Victoria Grace Haase. A Rosary will be said at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 6:00 PM, on Monday, January 13th with a visitation to follow until 8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 14th at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Brian Capuano as celebrant. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park.
