Alice Elder

Alice Baldwin Elder, 93, of Virginia Beach, formerly of Hopewell, Va., passed away Thursday October 8, 2009. She was predeceased by her parents Hubert H. & Lena Beavers Baldwin, her husband John David Elder, and a daughter Janet Dee Hodges. Alice attended the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Maryland, was the church organist for Saint Johnâ??s Episcopal Church and Merchants Hope Episcopal Church, and was a piano teacher for many years. She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte E. Marriott & husband Robert H. of Virginia Beach, grandchildren Jan M. Fentress & husband Will of Virginia Beach, Evan W. Marriott of San Clemente California, Caroline H. Wyatt & husband John of Richmond, Chase B. Hodges of Atlanta, great-grandchildren; William C., Charlotte B., Joshua M., Fentress, John A. Wyatt Jr., James H., Gordon D. Wyatt, and Gabriella D. Hodges. Many thanks to the dedicated caregivers at the Assisted Living Facility at First Colonial Inn of Virginia Beach. A graveside service will be held at Appomattox Cemetery in Hopewell on Tuesday October 13, 2009 at 2:00 PM.
