Alice Gwaltney

Alice Morris Gwaltney, 107, of Virginia Beach, VA, formerly of Waverly VA, died on Sunday, August 21, 2005 at Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Gwaltney was born in Greensville County and was the daughter of the late James Edward and Margaret Coker Morris and the widow of Herman Lee Gwaltney. She attended Emporia Public Schools and was a graduate of Smith-Deal Massey Business School and worked as a legal secretary in Waverly and also as a secretary for the Virginia Department of Transportation. She was a member of the Waverly United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret J. Cramer of Virginia Beach; two grandsons, Roger Cramer and wife, Julia of Crofton, MD, and Ross Cramer and wife, Mary Jane of Virginia Beach, VA; two great-grandsons, Christopher Cramer of Laurel, MD and Joshua Cramer of Virginia Beach VA; a great-granddaughter, Sarah Cramer of Virginia Beach, VA and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Purviance Funeral Home in Wakefield on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at 2 pm, with Rev. Connie Gibbs officiating. Burial will follow in Waverly Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
