Alice Wilmoth Laine Hingerty, 93, a resident of Suffolk, died Thursday, July 12, 2007 at a Hopewell, Virginia hospital. She was predeceased by her husband of over 70 years, Alfred C. Hingerty, Jr. Alice was born August 31, 1913 in Isle of Wight Co. She was a homemaker; a lifelong member of Bethlehem Christian Church, Suffolk, and a member of the Womenâ??s Missionary Society of the church. Alice was devoted to her family and was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved reading, gardening, and birdwatching. She was predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn Laine Crider, Edith Laine Dowling, and two brothers, William Elliott Laine and Elliott Russell Laine.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn H. Dundalow of Waverly; a son, Alfred E. Hingerty of Riverview, FL; two granddaughters, Susan H. Easom and husband, Rev. Wesley Easom, and Katie Alice Hingerty, all of Atlanta, GA; two grandsons, David Thomas Dundalow and Rev. Jonathan Alfred Dundalow and his wife, Cindy, all of Dinwiddie; two great-grandsons, Morgan Thomas Dundalow and Timothy Edward Dundalow; two nieces, Anne Yeoman of Sperryville, and Connie Henderson of Carrollton; seven nephews, Col. Elliott Russell Laine, Jr. of Springfield, Herbert Watkins Laine of Chesapeake, Elliott Gwaltney Laine of Newport News, William Elliott Laine, Jr. of Smithfield, Harry Fillmore Dowling, Jr. of Towson, MD, Dr. John Nelson Dowling of Pittsburgh, PA, and William Laine Dowling of Bellingham, WA.
Funeral services will be held at the Purviance Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Wakefield, on Monday, July 16, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. the day of the service. Interment will follow in Holly Lawn Cemetery in Suffolk. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethlehem Christian Church, 1549 Holland Rd., Suffolk, VA 23434.
