Alice Harrington Hogwood

Alice Harrington Hogwood, 94, of Petersburg, VA passed away on August 2, 2014. Born in Petersburg, VA she was the daughter of the late Charles W. Harrington and Marion Gill Harrington Havens; and was also preceded in death by her husband, Freeman “Base” R. Hogwood; two sisters, Elizabeth Harrington and Maxine Partin; and one brother, Charles W. Harrington. Mrs. Hogwood was a kind and caring person and enjoyed doing things for others. She loved baking, cooking, canning, freezing vegetables, car rides and most of all spending time with her family. She was a member of West End Baptist Church for many years. Mrs. Hogwood is survived by her daughter, Carol Lunsford and husband, W.G. “Whitey”; one granddaughter, Laurie Lunsford; several nieces and nephews; and her longtime devoted friend, Norma Westmoreland. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA. The family is greatly appreciative of the love, care and attention provided to her by the Petersburg Home for Ladies as well as Hospice Community Care, and especially the love and assistance given by Robin Southall.
