Eun Im "Alice" Kang, 74, departed this life on October 20, 2023, at her home in Chester, Virginia, comforted by her family.
Alice was born on January 15, 1949, in Seoul, Korea. She was the daughter of the late Bo Kyung Hur and In Soon Jung, being one of 3 children born into this union.
Alice was preceded in death by her brother Sang Man Hur.
In 1972, Alice married Deug, the love of her life and devoted husband of 51 years. Alice and Deug had two sons, Paul and Joseph. Alice's deep love for her family shone brightly, as she was an exceptional wife and a loving mother. She found immense joy in spending quality time with her family, playing golf, and traveling with her beloved husband. Additionally, she treasured the bonds she formed with her church community.
Alice dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and remained a faithful servant until her death. She was a member of the Richmond Korean Presbyterian Church in Richmond, Virginia, where she served as a deaconess, led Bible study groups, and sang in the choir under the leadership of Pastor Chan Young Choi. Alice also enjoyed fellowshipping and singing in the choir at The Heights Baptist Church in Chesterfield, Virginia, under the leadership of Senior Pastor Dr. Randall Hahn.
Alice leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Deug; sons, Paul Kang (Gerry), Joseph Kang (Joelle); brother, Young Gyun Hur; granddaughter, Tai-Mi Madison Kang; grandsons, Dalton Kang and Brody Kang; and a host of family members and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion that will forever be remembered and cherished.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home - Chester Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
