Allie Doris Crumpler Goodyear

Allie Doris Crumpler Goodyear, 93, of Petersburg, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016. Born in Zuni, VA, she was the daughter of the late Reuel Crumpler and Virginia Davis Crumpler. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Gordon Crumpler, Frances Rose, R.L. Crumpler, Helen Benthall, Marjorie Poston, Orchel Jeffers, and Thomas Crumpler; and son-in-law, David Smallwood. Doris’ mother was a renown antique dealer in the area. She served on the advisory board and was instrumental in the restoration of various sites in Williamsburg. Her paternal uncle, D’arcy, was founder of the famous Virginia Diner Restaurant in Wakefield. Doris was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Petersburg and an active member of the Ladies Group of the Knights of Columbus. While employed at Petersburg General Hospital, she was an avid bowler. Doris’ greatest passion was her family which she loved dearly. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Bernard Goodyear, Jr.; children, Joan Smallwood, Bernard Goodyear, III. (Janice), Stephen Goodyear, Priscilla Smith (Jon), and Thomas Goodyear (Carla), all of whom attended St. Joseph Catholic School; grandchildren, David Smallwood, Jennifer Krolewski, Molly Priest, Bernard Goodyear IV., Stephen Goodyear, Alyssa Beddingfield, Jamison Smith, Jessica Smith, and Sarah Goodyear; great-grandchildren, Tripp, Jillian, Ellie, Berkley, Joey, Alexa, Owen, and Gray; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Rosary service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 151 W. Washington St. Petersburg, VA 23803 with a visitation to follow until 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at church. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Parish Hall Rebuild.
