Alma Virginia Eure Drewry, 94, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, Virginia. Born August 22, 1911 in Dendron, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Junius E. Eure and Marjorie Warren Eure. She was predeceased by her husband, Amos Charles Drewry and her son, Arthur E. Drewry.
Mrs. Drewry was a devoted farm wife for many years. She was very talented at painting china pieces. She was a member of the Waverly Congregational Christian Church.
Mrs. Drewry is survived by two daughters, Anne Drewry Monahan and Lillian Drewry Gwaltney; nine grandchildren, Monty Monahan and wife Anne, Tammy Goodrich and husband Edwin, Tim Monahan and wife Judy, Kevin Monahan and wife Janet, Mary Joyner, Jody Schorr and husband Eric, Tracy Beville and husband Robert, Tara Bragg, and Tanya West and husband Mack; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in the Purviance Funeral Home Chapel, Wakefield, Virginia, on Friday, June 30, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Joy Heaton and Reverend Jim Kerr officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, June 29, 2006 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
