Alma â??Macâ? G. McCallister, age 87, of Chester, VA, died Friday, February 22, 2008. Born in Covington, VA, she was the daughter of the late George A. and Georgianna Campbell McCallister. Alma was also preceded in death by 4 sisters, Edith Brown McCallister, Shirly Gertrude McCallister, Grace Mae McCallister, Marie Jane McCallister, 3 brothers, George Lacy McCallister, Oscar Renick McCallister, Hunter H. McCallister, and a Godson, Chip Manuel. She was a member of the Pioneers with C & P Telephone Company where she worked for 33 years before retirement. Alma was a member of Chester United Methodist Church and the Weslyian Senior Fellowship. She was also an avid member of the AARP. Alma is survived by her brother, William Horace McCallister, of Covington, VA; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; special nieces, Carol Wolfe and Margie June Bunkholder; special great nephew, Aaron Jernigan; life long companion, Jo Ann Kiser; and special friends, Tish Manuel, Susan and Tom Payne, and their three children, Wil, Samantha, and Meaghan. A graveside funeral service will be on Monday, February 25, 2008 at 1 p.m. in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Chester United Methodist Church building fund, 12132 Percival St. Chester, VA 23831 or to Crater Community Hospice, 840 West Roslyn Road, Suite E, Colonial Heights, 23834.
