Alma Neal Wamsley

Our Dear Mother, Alma Neal Perkinson Wamsley, 104 yrs. old, passed away peacefully on Palm Sunday March 29, 2015. She was born February 5, 1911 to the late Thomas Neal Perkinson and Annie Laura Herring Perkinson and she resided in her birthplace and family home that was established by her grandfather Christian Herring in 1854 in Ettrick. She was the widow of Howard E. Wamsley, Sr., and was a lifelong member of the Ettrick United Methodist Church where she enjoyed many years of fellowship in the choir. She was also a member of the Colonel John Bannister Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Wamsley was preceded in death by her son Christopher Neil "Bud" Wamsley, her grandson Robert Ernest Wamsley, and her sister Cauline McFarland Perkinson. She is survived by her son Howard E. Wamsley, Jr. and wife Jean, her daughter Nancy Wamsley Trent Chadwick and husband Abraham; her grandchildren: Christie Wamsley DiPardo, Joy W. Moore, Howard Douglas Wamsley, Christopher Neil Wamsley, Amie Trent Hoover, William Morgan Wamsley, Christian Scott W. Trent, Garrie Claire Trent, and Rebecca W. Blalock; her niece Barbara McFarland Nugent and husband Dennis; grandnephew W. Grey Nugent; 18 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and her special friends Margaret Harpole and Doris Beasley. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM, Thursday, April 2, 2015 in the chapel of the J. T. Morriss Funeral Home, 103 S. Adams St., Petersburg, VA 23803. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery.
