Alva Broadus "A.B." Ford, Sr., 94, of Petersburg, passed away on February 14, 2022. Born in Dillon Co., SC, he was the son of the late Isom Ford and Bernice Richardson Ford. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kelma Ford; brothers, Harry Ford, Dorothy Edwards, and Judy Mason.
Alva was a proud Veteran having served his country in the Army Air Corps. He went on to work for Petersburg Ford Motor Company and eventually opened his own business, Ford's AMOCO. After many years he started his second business, Ford's Mobile Home Park, where he served as owner and operator. He was an avid fisherman and especially loved catching fish on the Chesapeake Bay. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his children, Alva "Rusty" Ford, Jr. (Pamela), Kelly Rene Ford, and Yvette Giovinazzi; grandchildren, Rustin Ford, Brian Ford, and Cristina Giovinazzi Vautrin (Eric); great-grandson, Cole Hayes Vautrin; siblings, Carlisle Ford (Rose), Edna Weber, and Billy Ford (Linda); and son-in-law, Floyd Burton (Denise). The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at VCU Health.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2022 at Southlawn Memorial Park in the mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation online or by mail, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Attn.
