Alvin Sidney Harrell, 76, of Dewitt, passed away on July 20, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollin T. Harrell, Sr. and Lura Harrell Wallace; three brothers, James A. Harrell, Howard G. Harrell and Ollin F. Harrell, Jr.; two sisters, Thelma H. Welch, and Beatrice Padgett. Alvin was a member of the Dinwiddie Moose Lodge and the Hopewell VFW Post 637. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service and was also retired from Aqualon/Hercules. He loved his family, especially children to include his grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Mr. Harrell also loved his garden, pond and land. Alvin is survived by his son, John E. Temple and wife, Yvette; grandchildren, Kimber Rose and Joshua E. Temple; brother; Edward Harrell; sisters, Dorothy McDowell, Loretta Lucy and husband, Cecil, Elizabeth Peck and husband, Ray; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home Tuesday July 24, 2012 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday July 25, 2012, at Rocky Run United Methodist Church Cemetery, Dinwiddie, with the Rev. Richard Gordon and Rev. Karen Workman officiating.
