Alvin Donald Hill, 95, formerly of Baltimore Maryland passed away peacefully at Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Center, Richmond VA on October 27th. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is predeceased by his wife of 66 years “Kay” (Catherine Louise). Big Al is survived by his son William D. Hill (Joyce), daughter Kathy Peebles (Brad), grandsons David Hill (Sarah) and Jonathan Hill (Heather), granddaughters Jennifer Hill, Erin Peebles (Jason Woodby) and Rebecca Peebles (Christian Butler) and 6 great-grandchildren. Al served in the Navy during WWII aboard the destroyer USS Chevalier. He Retired from Bethlehem Steel after over 40 years of service working his way up from machinist apprentice to Assistant Master Mechanic. At the same time he devoted 50 years to improving the lives of many young men through Scouting. His joys were his family, friends, the Boy Scouts and woodworking. He was the best Dad, Granddad and Big Daddy Al. A Celebration of life will be held on November 9 at 3 PM at JT Morris in Chester, VA.
