Alyce Wilson Rooks, 94, a longtime resident of Portsmouth, VA, died Saturday, March 17, 2018. Born in Petersburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Peters Charles and Zevernia Ethridge Wilson. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Carl Marion Rooks. Mrs. Rooks was a retired employee of the State of Virginia; first with the Board of Medicine, and later providing rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities. She was a member of Port Norfolk Baptist Church, The Doll Study Club of Tidewater, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed collecting dolls, antiquing, traveling, and just being with family and friends. She will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Rooks Dunn and husband, Charles P. Dunn; granddaughter, Alison Dunn; great-granddaughter, Ariannah Kolpack; grandson, Joseph Benjamin Dunn and his wife, Abagail. There are also many loving nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2018 at Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA.
