Amber Warren Lanier, 66, of Wakefield, died on April 20, 2009 from complications of MS. Born in Long Island, NY, on November 3, 1942, she was the daughter of the late William Buller Hershey, Jr. and Marion Warren Hershey. She was the widow of the late Walter S. Lanier, Sr.
She was a legal secretary for the Honorable Robert l. Kunzig, US Court of Claims in Washington, D.C. before retiring in 1980.
She is survived by two stepsons, Walter (Laura) Lanier of Wakefield, Michael (Courtenay) Lanier of Bowie, MD; a step daughter, Cathy Lanier of Washington, D.C. and four grandsons, Tony Hall of Glen Burnie, MD, Chris Ransom of Greenbelt, MD, Zachary Viola of New York, and Michael Lanier of Wakefield; a sister, Maralyn Hershey of Wakefield; a brother, William B. Hershey III of St. Charles, MO; three aunts, Elizabeth Royer of Statesville, NC, Anne Huey of Fredricksburg, TX, and Jane Carter of Okalahoma.
The family will hold a private funeral service. Memorial donations may be made to the Waverly Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 583, Wakefield, VA 23890 or to the Wakefield Volunteer Fire Department, 155 Fleetwood Ave., Wakefield, VA 23888.
