Amelia Catherine Lipchak, 93, died Sunday, April 27, 2008. She was a native of Prince George County and a resident of Petersburg since retirement in 1983. She was a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Nursing and received her MA Degree from the University of Chicago. She served as a faculty member of several universities including: University of Virginia, University of Memphis, State University of New York at Buffalo, Southeastern University in Illinois, and The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where she worked until her retirement in 1982. Miss Lipchak was a member of the following honor societies: Lychnos Honor Society, Kappa Delta, Pi Lambda Theta. She was a specialist in Pediatric nursing and in maternal child health. She also held certificates in Intensive Care Nursing, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, and advanced training in the care of premature infants from Cornell University, NY. Miss Lipchak served in the United States Army during WWII. Since her retirement, she was involved in volunteer work including St. Joseph Catholic Church Outreach and Crater Community Hospice work. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Giammalvo of New Jersey, Elizabeth Dubovsky of Prince George, Lydia Rosbicki of Massachusetts, and Magdeline King of Disputanta; a special niece, Catherine G. Rosbicki and husband, Stephen; numerous nieces and nephews, a special friend and caretaker, Katherine Taylor. A Christian wake service will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday, April 30, at Church of the Sacred Heart, Prince George. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday at the church followed by interment in the church cemetery.
