Ann Stewart Buyalos

June 13, 1934 — December 22, 2017

Ann Stewart Buyalos, 83, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2017. Ann was born in Hopewell, Va. to the late Josh Stewart, Jr. and Louise Sharp Stewart. She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas S. Stewart, of Miami, Florida. Ann is survived by her husband of 63 years, Edward J. Buyalos, Sr., her son, Edward J. Buyalos, Jr. (Laura) of Chester; daughters, Mary B. Deaner (Brent) of Midlothian and Tracy B. Seymour (Greg) of Chester; sister, Sarah Allen (Cary) of Chester and brother, Walter Jay Stewart (Donna) of Hopewell along with 6 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Ann was a loving mother who put her children first. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters at Saint James, in Hopewell and was very active at Saint James school where her children attended. After moving to Chester in 1971 she became a member of St. Ann’s and St. Augustine’s churches. Ann was very active in her community. Ann enjoyed her many friends for many years in the bridge club. She spent many hours driving her elderly friends to doctor appointments and sitting with her friends with Alzheimer's so their spouses could attend doctor appointments. She was the caregiver to her parents for the last 10 years of their lives. Ann was a past President of both the Chester Woman’s Club and the Chester Garden Club. She won many awards for her flower arrangements while in the garden club, and enjoyed decorating her home with her own floral arrangement designs, sewing, and knitting. She also initiated a family history of the Buyalos Family from 1898 to the present.
Ann looked forward to the many holidays when she hosted the entire family for Christmas, Thanksgiving, and family reunions. She decorated her home for these holidays to welcome everyone who attended these events. Ann greatly enjoyed her many summers at Nags Head with her 6 grandchildren. She was very active in the early years of her grandchildren’s lives. They named her "Nanny" soon after they began to talk. Ann was so grateful for the special loving care she received from her husband, her children, and her sister Sarah during her illness with Alzheimer's. The family would also like to thank the staff at The Crossings at Ironbridge for their many years of loving care. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 27th, from 6 until 8 pm at J.T. Morriss & Son funeral home, 3050 W. Hundred Road, Chester. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 28th at 11:00 am at St. Augustine Catholic Church, with a reception to follow. A graveside service will then be held at 2:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Park in Chester. Ann was a gentle loving person that we will greatly miss until we meet again.
