Ann Howerton Janosik

Ann H. Janosik, 81, of Hopewell, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 after a long period of illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin L. Howerton and Mary T. Howerton; and her husband of 48 years, Thomas S. Janosik. Ann is survived by her two children, Thomas L. Janosik, and Katrina J. Phillips, and her husband, Keith C. Phillips all of Hopewell. She was a graduate of Hopewell High School and Petersburg General Hospital School of Nursing. As a past member of Beta Mu Sorority, she was a co-founder of the Princess Snowflake Pageant which has been ongoing since 1959. She was very active in her community, volunteering at St. James Catholic School, coaching girls’ softball with her husband and later working for many years as a facility supervisor for youth softball, baseball, and basketball leagues for the Hopewell Recreation Department. Ann also served as an Assistant Voter Registrar for the City of Hopewell. The family will receive friends from 3pm to 5pm on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at the Hopewell Chapel of JT Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, April 23, 2018 at St. John's Episcopal Church with interment to follow in Merchant's Hope Memorial Gardens. A reception will be held at the church immediately following interment.
