Ann Elizabeth Miranian

Miranian, Ann Elizabeth, born November 5, 1926 loving wife and mother. Passed Sept.18, 2018. She was predeceased by her father Dr. Oscar Gilbert, mother Helen Locke, sister Martha Sperry, son Art Miranian Jr. in 2008, and loving husband Arthur in 2015. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Miranian; two grandsons, Gilbert Miranian and Daniel Miranian; daughter-in-law, Anne Miranian and devoted caregiver, Ann Barba. She prepared at Robinson Female Seminary and graduated from Simmons College with her RN. She worked at Massachusetts General Hospital upon graduation and resumed her career after raising two children. She was an avid bird watcher who had an extensive life list of birds. She was inquisitive about the natural world and shared her knowledge with others. She was a Girl Scout leader, community volunteer, and led hikes for the Appalachian Mountain Club. She traveled and camped throughout the US National Park system, and lived in Saudi Arabia and Zimbabwe, as well as circling the globe twice, though Chester remained her home. She believed in lifelong education. Throughout her life, she was devoted to conservation, and was an advocate for protecting the environment before it became popular. A memorial service will be held at the Chester Presbyterian Church at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 30 2018. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in the name of Ann Miranian to Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
