Anna Geraldine Mertz

Anna Geraldine Mertz, 81, of Prince George, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014 at her residence. Born in McKeesport, PA, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Rayzinger Hreha. Mrs. Mertz worked at the Thalhimer’s Department Store at Walnut Mall for several years and later retired from the Internal Revenue Service, Richmond office. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by her husband of 61 years, John A. Mertz; two sons, John Mertz of Hopewell and David Mertz and wife, Beth of Chester; daughter, Karen Mertz of Hopewell, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a sister, Irene Hreha of McKeesport, PA. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 29, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. The family will receive friends following the service from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. An interment service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia, VA.
