Anne Elizabeth Hatch Joyner, age 67, of Wakefield passed away at home surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, November 11, 2020. Native of Sussex county, she was the daughter of the late James Robert and Anne Edwards Hatch of Wakefield. She was the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Alexander Hatch of Wakefield; and the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie
Epps Edwards of Petersburg, and niece of the late Rebecca Frances Edwards Martin. Anne Elizabeth was a loving wife, mother and friend. She was a 1971 graduate of Tidewater Academy, and a 1974 graduate of Chowan College. She was a registered nurse for over thirty years at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital in Suffolk. She was a member of the Wakefield United Methodist Church and actively followed both county and town governments, serving on the town of Wakefield’s cemetery committee for many years. She was a lover of animals, and especially loved her dogs Cosette and Faith, rescue kitty, Gizmo, and her late rottweiler, Cody. She is survived by her husband of forty-five years, Crawford Barrett “C.B.” of Wakefield; her daughters, Rebecca Frances Joyner Chambers and husband Lane, of Wakefield, Elizabeth
Anne Joyner Gillette and husband Will, and granddaughter, Rebecca Anne Gillette of Capron; as well as many special friends. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at the
Wakefield Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Lane Chambers in Wakefield. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to Tidewater Academy or the Richmond Animal Care and Control. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son.
