Annie Plakas Valenta, 94, passed away peacefully at her home in Dinwiddie, VA., Sunday, December 2, 2018. Annie was the daughter of the late Emma and Louie Plakas and was married to Franklin Valenta for 53 years, until Frank’s death in 2001. Annie was a homemaker and a bookkeeper for her father’s business, The Dixie Restaurant. She had an artistic flare for flower arranging, and she created colorful woven trivets that are sold at Seagreen Art Gallery. She loved spending summers at Nags Head watching her grandchildren grow up in the cottage of her name sake, “Ocean Annie’s”. However, this past summer she converted to a Rivah Girl at the family’s new home on the Potomac River where she dined nightly on the fresh catch of the day and watched beautiful sunsets. Annie is survived by her devoted daughter, Susan Valenta Wells and son-in-law, Bruce; three grandchildren, Kristin Edwards and son-in-law, Justin, Ryan Coffield, and Logan Wells; her dear sister, Florence Rochelle; great niece, Lauri Rochelle and many cousins, nieces and nephews. With grateful hearts the family wishes to recognize Jean and Mark Verdone, faithful neighbors and wonderful friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 7, 2018 at St. John’s Catholic Church, 7215 Squirrel Level Rd, N. Dinwiddie, VA. A time of food and fellowship will follow the service at the church. Flowers are welcome as Annie loved them so much, or you may make contributions to Samaritans’ Purse,
