Annie Chandler Winn

July 26, 1914 — January 15, 2018

Annie Chandler Winn, 103, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018. She was a resident of Dinwiddie County most of her life, and from 2001 to the present lived at the Petersburg Home for Ladies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Beal and Dora Callahan Chandler; her beloved husband, Alston Geter Winn; a granddaughter, Jenna Conwell Winn; three sisters, Helen Douglas Chandler, Lizzie Gray Chandler, and Eva Chandler Humphrey; two brothers, Infant Albert Taylor Chandler and James Elmo Chandler.
She is survived by a daughter, Jewel Winn Loftis (John) of Church Road, VA; a son, Edward Michael Winn (Kay) of Rich Square, NC; three grandchildren, Daphne Loftis Sexton (Dennis), Alston Michael Winn, and Carra Winn Lane (Trevor); one great-grandchild, Winn Lewis Lane; a brother-in-law, Edward Milton “Jack” Winn; and many nieces and nephews.
Annie was a member of Crawford United Methodist Church and over the years she was active in the United Methodist Women’s Society, the Dinwiddie Home Demonstration Club, and the Virginia Ramblers Travel Club. She was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves baseball team and enjoyed oil painting and needlecrafts. Her children and grandchildren cherish the many gifts of her handwork. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Petersburg Home for Ladies for 18 years of special care and love, as well as a short period of care and kindness from the caregivers of Kindred Hospice.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 19, 2018 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Thomas F. Lester and Pastor James H. Fry, III, officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, South Prince George, VA 23805. Memorial contributions may be made to Crawford United Methodist Church, P.O.
