Anthony Smith

Anthony Smith (also known as Tony), 62, of Pittsburgh, PA, entered eternal rest and peace Saturday, August 25, 2018 at his home in Richmond, VA.

Brother Anthony grew up in Park Place AME Church and rededicated his life and accepted Christ as his personal Savior at Hosanna Outreach Ministry in North Chesterfield, VA. Like Job, he was a man of great faith. Because of his love of God he was faithful at Hosanna until his passing.

Anthony was the son of the late Katherine Anne Charles Smith and Alvin James Smith and stepfather Joseph Lewis Harris. He was preceded in death by mother-in-law Ipaige Key and father-in-law Claude Key Sr. and brother-in-law Claude Key Jr.

He graduated from Wilkinsburg High School and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Point Park College, Pittsburgh PA. Anthony spent his early years in hospital management before making a career at Phillip Morris. Upon retirement, he was employed by Home Depot and was on their MET team.

Anthony is survived by his loving wife Sarah Key Smith, son Phillip Bradley Smith (mother Ruth Ann Smith), sister Tamara Robinson, brother Shaun Smith (Anne), stepbrothers Derrick Harris, Craig Harris, Michael Harris and four sisters-in-law, Dorothy, Shirley, Edna Key and devoted sister-in-law Patricia Scott his every day caretaker, two brothers-in-laws, Frankie Key (Gail) and Christopher Key (Sylvia), Nieces Keunta, Shaunta, D’Asia Key, Shianna and Ceru Smith, Crystal and Shantelle Pate. Nephews, Aaron Harris, Jeffrey Javon Key and Darryl Robinson, Emerson Scott (Jeanette), Emannueal Scott (Taneeka) Charles Pate Jr. (Michelle) and a devoted friend Russell Jenkins along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, step-nieces, step-nephews, and friends.

Anthony was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, loved all sports, ESPN, and played basketball in his youth. He loved music especially jazz, watching Jeopardy, Family Feud, completing crossword puzzles, and spending time with his beloved wife Sarah and devoted pet Ebony.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 31, 2018 at the funeral home.
