Arlene Archer Briggs, 77, of Prince George, VA, widow of Spencer T. Briggs, Jr., died Wednesday, March 22, 2017. Born in Petersburg, VA she was the daughter of the late William H. and Zell Emory Archer. She was also preceded in death by a brother, William H. Archer, Jr., two sisters, Phyllis Pierce and Annette Jackson, mother and father-in-law, Wilna and Spencer T. Briggs, Sr. Arlene was a lifelong camper at New Point Campground on the Chesapeake Bay and loved fishing with her husband on their boat. She also enjoyed listening to country music bands. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Briggs Joyner; son, Spencer T. Briggs, III and wife, Rosy; grandchildren, E.J. Joyner, Brandon Joyner, Michael Briggs, Jessica Briggs, Samantha Pruitt, and Jason Puitt; great-grandchildren, Erin, Jacob, Hailey, Austin, and Cecelia; brother, C.C. “Honey” Archer; special friends, Wayne Collette, Rita Pate, Bobbie Jones, and Vita Ingargiola. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Congregational Church Cemetery.
