Armando Garza, 79, of King George VA, died February 3, 2023. Born and raised in Tucumcari, NM, he was the son of the late, Raul Garza and Belen Maciel Garza. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and devoted much of his time traveling with grandchildren. He was a 1967 graduate of Western New Mexico University and in 1985 received his Master's Degree from VPI & SU. He retired as division head at the Strategic & Weapon Control Systems Department at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren Virginia. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, but more than anything he loved spending time with his grandchildren, and working on his antique cars.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Garza was preceded in death by a sister, Belen Garza Gonzales.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Katherine Sexton Garza; daughter, Amanda Garza Clift and her husband, Rodney, of King George, VA; son, William Reeson, Jr., and his wife, Melissa, of Simpsonville, SC; daughter, Renea Garza Mahaffey and her husband, Harold, of Anderson, SC; son, Alan Reeson and his wife, Gretchen, of Glen Allen, VA; son, Raul Armando Garza and his wife, Jeanette, of King George, VA; eleven beautiful grandchildren; a brother, Raul Garza, Jr., of Tucumcari, NM; a sister, Amelia Garza Garcia of Clovis, NM; and sister, Anna Garza, of Tucumcari, NM; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 o'clock pm, Friday, February 17, 2023, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, with Reverend Andrew Miller, Pastor of Bethel Reformed Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens. The visitation begins at 12 pm, Friday, February 17, 2023, at the funeral home.
