Arthur Barkman

Arthur T. Barkman, 86, of Prince George, died , July 29,2004 in John Randolph Medical Center. He was born in Brooklyn, New York and made his home in Prince George for 13 years. Mr. Barkman was Vice President of J. P. Morgan Trust Co., and a graduate of St. Johns University. He served in the US Army during WWll in the Pacific Theater and received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, American Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War ll Victory Medal. He was the son of the late Peter and Elvira Larson Barkman. Mr/ Barkman is survived by his wife, Alma Brittle Barkman of Prince George, a son Arthur Peter Barkman and wife Jackie of Somersville, N.J,, three step-daughters, Carol Hamner of Prince George, Diane Devers and husband, Burt of Prince George, and Marie Mueller of Chester, Va., two sisters, Helen Taylor of Hopewell, and Margaret Borsella and husband, Nick of Roanoke, Va. four grandsons, three great-granddaughters, and one great-grandson, seven step -grandchildren and eleven step-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, August 1, 2004 from 7-9PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Monday, August 2, 2004 at 11:00AM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Alex Roberts, pastor of Unity Baptist Church officiating.
