Arthur L. â??Buckâ? Seay, III, of Greenfield Senior Living, Flank Road, Petersburg, died November 1, 2007, after a brief illness. He was 84 years old. Born in Petersburg, VA, January 13, 1923 to Arthur L. Seay, DDS and Blanche Cowser Seay, he graduated from Petersburg High School in 1940. He matriculated at Virginia Military Institute, Lexington, Virginia and earned a BS in Civil Engineering, Class of 1944. He achieved the rank of 2nd Lt. with the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the Marine Corps Military Police. A World War II veteran, he saw active duty in Okinawa, Japan. Mr. Seay lived most of his adult life in Florida, employed as a civil engineer. He was involved in the planning and building of many bridges and other civil projects along the east coast of the United States. He was an avid reader and golfer, and also enjoyed building his own stereo systems and speakers. His favorite types of music were classical, jazz and Big Band and he had an affinity for all aspects of architecture. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anne Seay Hunter; a daughter, Page Parnett; former wife Nancy Gill Booth and former wife Rose Gilmore. He is survived by two sons; Dr. Hobson G. â??Skipâ? Booth and his wife, Paula, of Morgantown, WV; and Jackson Seay of Kamuela, Hawaii; six grandchildren; Hunter Booth, of Harrisonburg, VA; Anne Cary Booth of Los Angeles, CA; Ellen Parnett of NYC, NY; Ian Parnett of Albany, New York; Jackson Seay, Jr. and Candice Seay of Durango, Colorado; niece Virginia (Missy) McCabe and her husband Scott, of Wexford, PA and three nephews, Edwin Hunter, Jr., of Deer, Arkansas; Arthur â??Boâ? Hunter, of Fernandina Beach, Florida; Andrew Hunter of Palatka, Florida, and brother-in-law Edwin Hunter of Fernandina Beach, Florida. Friends will be received at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 103 South Adams Street, Petersburg, VA on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 12:00 PM, with Rev. Scott McCabe officiating a brief memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to Crater Community Hospice, or to the VMI Alumni Fund.
