Arthur Keith "Lucky" Knowling

Arthur K. “Lucky” Knowling, 75, of Matoaca, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at home. Born January 13, 1940 in Talbott, TN, he was the son of the late Ray Jackson Knowling and Hazel Corrine Ingram Knowling, and also preceded in death by his wife, Ann Landon Knowling. He loved bluegrass music and sang and played his guitar from a young age of 8 years old. Lucky is survived by 2 daughters, Toni Dear (Bruce), Teresa Swink (Eric); son, Ervin Knowling (Shirley); stepson, Frankie Peters; 2 grandchildren, Tara Bishop (Michael) and Jason Knowling; a step-grandson, Hunter Peters; 2 great-grandchildren, Carter and Coby Bishop; sister, Mary Ruth Hopkins; brother, Johnny Knowling (Vivian) of TN; his girlfriend, Jean Weathers, who was by his side to the end; and many bluegrass friends. A memorial service will be held at Matoaca United Methodist Church, 6301 River Road, Matoaca, VA 23803, Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. The family will receive friends 2 hours before the service. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Matoaca United Methodist Church, Community Outreach Building (COB), or Crater Community Hospice, 3916 South Crater Rd., Petersburg, VA 23805.
