Arthur Norris

Arthur "Dickie" Norris of Prince George, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side, on Sunday, July 17, 2022. Born January 3, 1944, in Greene County, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter E. and Early Norris; and his wife, Carole J. Norris, whom he was the primary caregiver for the last 15 years of her life. Dickie retired from the Firestone Synthetic Plant in Hopewell, Virginia, after 37 years of service, and was one of the last remaining employees before the plant closed. Dickie was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather, who loved family above all else. Spending time with his kids, grandkids, and friends was his greatest joy. If you knew our dad, you knew he was a talker. Always asking how so-and-so was, or have you seen this or that person, and how they were doing. Always having concern for others. As the story goes, he was once asked by a coworker, "Mr. Norris, did you used to be a radio host?" Dad responded by saying, "No, why do you ask?" "Because you sure do talk a lot," was the reply. That was our dad.
Dickie is survived by his daughters, Lisa Wamsley and Rebecca Forren; son, Tommy Norris (Debbie); a sister, Zelphia Warren, of Hampton, Virginia; and brother, Earl Norris, of Kinston, North Carolina; grandchildren, Kyle (Brooke) and Travis Wamsley, Carly and Dylan Forren, Emily Miles, Mallory Norris, Brittany Robertson (Chris), Amanda Edwards (Michial), Matt Bain (Tamara); great-grandchildren, Kaylin, C.J. and Kirsten Robertson, Easton and Luke Edwards, and Kennedy and Kian Bain. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Appomattox Cemetery in Hopewell, Virginia. The family is being served by the Hopewell Chapel of J.T.
