Arthur George Wells

Arthur George Wells, 68, of Portsmouth, formerly of Dinwiddie County, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Earl Wells and Mary Letner Bishop, and two brothers, William “Bubba” Wells and Eugene Franklin Wells. A United States Army veteran, Art was a man who made an impact on everyone he met. He enjoyed sharing stories of his many adventures, and making people laugh. He was a great son, father, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend, who was fiercely loyal and loved deeply. He was an avid animal lover and the family requests that in place of flowers, donations be made to local animal shelters/ humane societies/ animal rescues in his honor. He is survived by his daughter, Diana Wells, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; brother, Willie Earl Wells, Jr.; sister, Ethel Wells Tisi, several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 18th at Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia, VA. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
