Audrey Thacker Huber, 93, died on Monday, February 13, 2012 at Riverside Convalescent Center in Smithfield. The widow of Frederick F. Huber, she was a native of Isle of Wight County and resided most of her adult life in Surry County. She was the daughter of the late James Allen and Oâ??Della Scott Thacker of Smithfield. Her only sibling, Allen Parker Thacker, died just two weeks ago. She was honored by Avon for more than forty years of service. She was also employed by the United States Postal Service, working in the Surry County Post Offices for many years. Active in church and community affairs, she was a member of the Business and Professional Womenâ??s Association, Surry Womanâ??s Club, and the Home Demonstration Club. A member of Union Congregational Christian Church in Dendron for more than 50 years, since then she transferred her membership back to her home church, Bethany United Methodist Church in Smithfield. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. One niece, Jean Huber Snyder, of Newport News, has faithfully cared for her for many years. She is also survived by many first and second generation cousins. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at the Wakefield Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Interment to follow in Union Congregational Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Huber requested memorial contributions be made to Union Congregational Christian Church.
