Audrey R. Lester

Mrs. Audrey R. Lester, 84, of Dinwiddie, VA, departed this life peacefully on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at home surrounded by family. She was born May 7, 1932, in Petersburg, VA, to the late Nannie Logan and James R. Rawlings, Sr. She was a member of West End Baptist Church for over 50 years, volunteering in the nursery for many years and was loved dearly by the children. Audrey spent her lifetime caring for family and others, was selfless in the time that she gave and loved preparing meals for her family. Her favorite vacation spot was Myrtle Beach, and the entire family looked forward to a vacation together every year. Dear to her heart were her pets, Ranger and Gracie, they were her friends and she treated them as children. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, William M. Lester; her children, William E. Lester, Sr. (Rosemary), Charles R. Lester, Sr. (Lorraine), and Pamela L. Rose (Jeff). She was preceded in death by her son, Keith W. Lester, Sr. She was blessed with nine grandchildren, Skip Lester (Stewart), Kam Williams (John), Chip Lester (Kellie), Christina Lester, KJ Lester (Anne), Ryan Lester, Jessika Lester, Christopher Reason, and Kyle Rose (Sara); 12 great-grandchildren, Cole, Hagan, Charlotte, Tyler, Trevor, Kendyl, Aubrey, Dylan, Austin, Hayden, Kennedy, and Elizabeth, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Audrey was one of four children and is survived by her beloved sister, Gloria Woody of Richmond, VA. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016 at West End Baptist Church followed by entombment at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West End Baptist Church, 6506 Boydton Plank Road, N.
